Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2016: What Time It starts & where to Stream

It is the time to bolster up the balloons. The 90th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving parade will be held on Thursday, 24 November at 9:00 a.m.ET. The gigantic three hour parade, which kicks off the holiday season, starts in New York City’s Upper West Side and moves downtown toward Macy’s flagship store on 34th street.

The 2016 parade will be live streamed on Verizon’s YouTube page. This is the first time the event will be streamed online. According to Variety, Verizon plans to set up five cameras along the route and giving viewers a 360- degree look at the parade.

The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which was initially called the Macy’s Christmas Parade, took place in 1924, when the department store’s first generation European migrant employees banded together to celebrate their first Thanksgiving in America.

Since then, the event has become one of the most beloved parade of all time, drawing millions of people to the streets of the Big Apple and millions more spectators at home – to see the ginormous helium filled balloons. This year, the parade is introducing three new balloons- A trolls balloon, featuring the movie’s characters Poppy,Branch and Guy Diamond, a diary of a Wimpy Kid balloon and Trixie the dog.

The 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs on NBC Thursday, 24th November, at 9:00 a.m.ET.
